2010 General Primary and General Election

Candidates for federal, statewide, legislative, judicial and county offices will run for nomination and election in 2010. The 2010 Candidate's Guide (Amended 7/20/09) lists the offices which will appear on the ballot in 2010.

The 2010 General Primary Election will be conducted on Tuesday, February 2, 2010. The General Election will be conducted on Tuesday, November 2, 2010.

Established party candidates’ petitions must be filed for the Tuesday, February 2, 2010 General Primary Election in the Board’s Principal office located at 2329 S. MacArthur Blvd., P. O. Box 4187, Springfield, IL, 62704 from Monday, October 26 through Monday, November 2, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. excluding Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1, 2009.

Independent and New Party candidates’ petitions must be filed for the Tuesday, November 2, 2010 General Election in the Board’s Principal office located at 2329 S. MacArthur Blvd., P. O. Box 4187, Springfield, IL, 62704 from Monday, June 14, 2010 through Monday, June 21, 2010, excluding Saturday, June 19 and Sunday, June 20, 2010.

For judicial vacancies which occur from Monday, October 12, 2009 through Monday, November 2, 2009, there is a special judicial filing period for established party candidates’, which runs from Monday, November 16 through Monday, November 23, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. excluding Saturday, November 21 and Sunday, November 22, 2009. Established party candidates seeking to fill judicial vacancies which occur before Monday, October 12, 2009 will file their petitions during the regular General Primary filing period.
