Qualifications to Run for Office

Even-Numbered Years
The Candidate’s Guide for 2008 provides information on qualifications for federal, legislative, judicial, and special district offices. A separate publication explains the qualifications for candidates who wish to run for the Presidential Preference candidates or as candidates for delegate or alternate delegate.

Candidates who file for county office will find information on qualifications and other general information in the Candidate’s Guide but are advised to contact their election authority for signature requirements and the availability of forms.

Odd-Numbered Years
The Candidates Guide will explain qualifications to run for local offices in the Consolidated Primary and Consolidated Elections. Individuals who wish to seek local office should check with the local election official for filing forms and information.
