In Illinois, elections for each jurisdiction are administered by the
. Illinois has 110 election authorities - 101 county clerks, eight municipal boards of election commissioners, and one county board of elections (DuPage).
The election authority for each jurisdiction administers voter registration. Illinois residents may register at the office of the election authority, at driver's license facilities, by mail and with deputy registrars who are appointed in each jurisdiction by the election authority.
Each election jurisidiction (county, city with a board of election commissioners, or the county board of election commissioners in DuPage County) selects the
specific voting system for use by its voters
On election day, the conduct of the election at the precinct polling place is administered by
whose appointment is confirmed by the circuit court.
