Independent Expenditure by a Natural Person
Individuals who make independent expenditures exceeding $3000 during a 12-month period, supporting or opposing a public official or candidate, must file a Natural Person Independent Expenditure Disclosure within 2 business days, and must report further independent expenditures in relation to the same election in $1000 increments. If, during a single election cycle, the natural person’s independent expenditures supporting or opposing the same public official or candidate exceed $250,000 in a statewide race or $100,000 in all other races, an additional disclosure must be filed within 2 business days. (Exceeding the threshold causes contribution limits to be lifted for all candidates in the affected race for the remainder of the election cycle.)

Independent Expenditure by an Independent Expenditure Committee
In addition to reporting independent expenditures on a Quarterly or Final Report or a Schedule B-1, if during a single election cycle an Independent Expenditure Committee makes independent expenditures in support of or opposition to a public official or candidate that exceed $250,000 in a statewide race or $100,000 in any other race, the committee must file an Independent Expenditure Committee Disclosure within 2 business days. (Exceeding the threshold causes contribution limits to be lifted for all candidates in the affected race for the remainder of the election cycle.)
